Art coaching

Collecting art for pleasure and knowledge is the oldest and most valuable sign to identify “modern man”. Homo sapiens sapiens —our direct oldest ancestor— was born between 70 and 50 thousand years ago, and since then we love collecting man-made as well as man-selected beautiful things.

The first art creations are certainly related to body-art (vocals, dance, body paintings, tattoing and body piercing), but also to diagrams on trees, walls, and stones, and last but not least, first money-sculptures: little ostrich-shell beads

used as jewellery, valuable gifts, and as money. The very old age of shell-money (Cypraea moneta or money-cowry), as well as the persistence of shell collecting (1), a passion that moves a huge art trading to these days, proves that no matter how deep economic crisis might be, art collecting will always be one of the best ways to preserve wealth and to compensate money deflation, stock crashes and huge losses of value during depressions.

As an artist and writer, for many years attentive to Contemporary art, I have always felt uneasy watching art-lovers and investors buying bad art, just for the sake of fashion usually grounded on short sided market hypes.

If you are buying art on a regular base or think to buy some art in the near future, you should know first what you are doing! There are many ways to get useful information, but also plenty of misleading paths and guides. I believe I can help you to start a nice and valuable art collection, or prune your unbalanced one.
